Job description
Arabic-speaking researcher to study photographic collections, develop knowledge, and contribute to programs and communication.

The research role will focus on particular regions, historical events and persons present in the photographic collections.

Main Responsibilities
 

• Generate documentation and collection metadata as per documentation guidelines
• Compose research texts derived from documentation metadata in Arabic and English
• Select images and provide metadata for image and research requests
• Contribute to communication content, including website, newsletters, and publications etc.
• Contribute to the development and updating of documentation guidelines
• Contribute to general research, programming, and learning sessions
• Contribute to the general workflow, such as reports and activities
• Participate in developing the research framework and propose research methodologies for assigned projects/collections

Competences and qualifications
 

• 2–3 years practical experience in research and cultural/artistic practice and visual culture
• Excellent command of verbal and written Arabic and English
• Knowledge of the complex histories and various communities of the SWANA region; knowledge of Iraq and Kurdistan is preferred
• Academic background in political science, sociology, anthropology and philosophy are of interest
• Ability to self-manage and work in a small team
